Pentecost.
We are going to explore how the disciples felt when Jesus left them at the
Ascension – and then how they felt before and after the Holy Spirit came to
them at Pentecost. We will read the
Bible together, express how it feels when a strong breeze is blowing on us
(fans!) and take part in a Pentecost dance!
Language,
communication and literacy
“We’re
going on a Bear Hunt” is our focus story this week. We will read, retell and
role play the story-talking about the different emotions the children in the
story experience.
Mathematics
We will take part in a missing number game using number
bonds to ten – using small cubes/bears under a cup. We will see one group and
the total amount and then give the answer/quantity that completes problem. We
will be counting, ordering numbers, saying the number before/after/between a
given number, adding and taking away!
Physical
Development
We are
going to continue to develop our fitness through running, star jumps and hoop
jumps. We are improving our ball skills using large and small balls and
hoops/been bags.
Understanding
the world
Pentecost
is an important event and we will discuss how it is celebrated.
We will be
going on a bear hunt around school! We will describe and draw a map of the route
we have taken.
We will
continue to use the computer keyboard and also use a program exploring
emotions.
Expressive
arts and design
We will
paint, collage and draw Pentecost pictures – the Apostles, flames, wind. We will experiment with mixing colours together and create "Going on a Bear Hunt" collages using different materials.
