Week beginning 9/6/14

RE

We will be continuing to learn about Pentecost and how the Holy Spirit changed, and helped, the Disciples. We will be writing, drawing and making collages of this special event. We will also be preparing for our class assemblies – RKQ week beginning 16^th June and RT week beginning 23^rd June.

Communication, language and literacy

We will be role playing and exploring the pattern of the story “We’re going on a Bear hunt”.
We will continue to learn our letter sounds – hearing and writing them in words – improving our letter formation and learning more high frequency words.

Mathematics

We will be comparing lots of different objects by size and weight, using and learning new mathematical vocabulary. We will create patterns in different ways, use positional language and talk about the properties of 2D and 3D shape.

Physical Development

We will develop our ball skills using large and small balls and bean bags. We are continuing to improve our fitness star jumps, running, step ups and climbing through a hoop- quickly!

Understanding the world

We will compare climates in different countries and find out the different climates and habitats different animals like to live in.
We will compare our seasons and observe our weather.
Expressive arts and design
Lots of painting – choosing and mixing colours. We will create Pentecost and Bear Hunt collages and make special cards. We will do a Pentecostal Dance, using ribbons and scarves.
