RE
This week we will focus on God’s gift of our eyes and ears. We
will talk about what we like to see with our eyes, what we can hear with our
ears and why they need to say thank you to God.
We will take part in an Autumn walk around the school grounds
and talk about all the different things we can see and hear. We will thank God
for our beautiful world.
We will talk about the Bible, the creation story and the
Wednesday Word. We will also talk about the festival of Diwali and make a diva
light.
Communication,
language and literacy
We will read the story ”The Gruffalo” – take part in
discussion and questioning about the story – developing our speaking and
listening skills. We will listen to the rhyming words in the story and learn
new rhymes.
We will learn new sounds e, u, r and h and practice the sounds
learnt so far - satpinmdogck. Hearing them in words, reading them and practice tracing /copy writing over sounds with emphasis on correct pencil grip and formation.
Mathematics
Again we will play different number games during the week- Bingo, lotto
and dominoes. We will learn number recognition and develop our counting skills
during the games as well as taking turns and playing fairly. We will focus on a
different number and shape every day. We will also play a problem
solving game - how many outfit combinations could we have for the teddy bear?
Physical
Development
We will
talk about how to take care of our teeth – a teeth cleaning set will be sent
home.
We will continue
to develop our fine motor skills through threading, cutting and drawing. The
large wheeled toys will be explored and during PE we will practice getting
dressed and undressed, moving, stopping and finding a space.
Understanding
the world/Expressive arts and design.
We will
observe the autumnal changes around us, look and talk about our Autumn plates
we have shared and prepared at home and walk around our new school.
We will
learn how to use a program on the netbooks.
In music
we will use Music Express and Charanga music resources, experimenting with our
voices and percussion instruments. We join Key Stage One for singing on
Wednesday.
We are
going to make our pictures larger more detailed, drawing an outline first. We
will also paint a picture of ourselves and our favourite school activity.
Our role
play area is “Kipper’s House” where we can pretend to be one of Kipper’s family.
