Week beginning 3/11/14

INSET day on Monday.
RE

We will talk about our family. Who is in our family? Who do we love? Who do we live with? Who else is in our family? We will discuss the activities and places we go with our family.

We will talk about what we do at home before we come to school. Who has helped us get ready?

How do people in our family show love and care to us and each other?

 As we do week, we discuss the Wednesday Word and talk about God’s special book the Bible.

Communication, language and literacy

During Circle time we will speak in full sentences about something we did the half term holiday. Adults will model speaking in full sentences and intervening to support when necessary.

Children write a sentence about what they did during their half term holiday – saying their sentence, hearing and writing sounds in words.

Mathematics

Count with conkers, adult to reinforce previous learning regarding counting strategies – touch count, lining up objects and reminders about giving each object one number. We will use the language of more or less by adding and taking  away 1 or 2 conkers and recounting to check the new total.

We will focus on a number and shape every day.

Physical Development

1-     Dressing before and after PE independently.

2-    Dance lessons – matching body actions to music.

3-    Wider outdoor activities e.g. wheeled toys, hoops, circle games

4-    Healthy eating discussion – fruit discussion at snack time (why is it good for us?)

5-    Handwriting sessions – holding pencil correctly, applying pressure and letter formation

Understanding the world/Expressive arts and design.

Using our sense of smell – what do these food items smell like? (coffee, garlic etc)

Netbooks

Remembrance Sunday – celebrating 100 years. Each child to make a poppy.

Charanga. and Music Express – new songs/percussion instruments.

Firework pictures using different materials e.g. chalk, crayons, paint.
