Week beginning 12/5/14

RE

We are going to visit Sacred Heart and Holy Souls Church this week. We will look for the Easter candle and talk about how important it is – a sign of celebration. We will look at the different symbols on the candle and talk about what they mean.

 

Communication, language and literacy

There will lots to continue talking and asking questions about our farm visit. We will practice hearing/writing sounds and writing sentences remembering spaces, full stops and capital letters. We will focus on the sounds for “ur”, “oi” and “ow”.

Mathematics

We will be adding two sets together and taking away from a set using ladybirds and spots! We will count in 1s, 2s, 5s and 10s and order numbers to 20. We will develop our vocabulary of distance.


Physical Development
We will large and small ball skills through games and activities. We will continue to develop our skills at running, star jumps and jumping through hoops!
We will talk about how we keep healthy and fit.

Understanding the world
We will explore different jobs people in the community do and how we help others.
On the computer, we will use the keyboard to type our name/sentence and use the space bar.

Expressive arts and design

We will paint and collage pictures of our farm visit, Easter candles, Our Lady and helping others.
We will explore the sounds different instruments make.
